Independent Publishers of Ontario (IPAO) elected to change their name from The Periodical Publishers Exchange (PPE). This decision was made reflecting on the broad changes in the publishing industry over the last 20 years. The vote was carried out at the annual meeting in June 2006.  IPAO group of independent publishers meets over dinner once a month (except July and August) in Toronto to discuss and gain information on a variety of topics relating to the publishing industry.

Membership over the years has typically ranged between 26 and 30 members representing between 50 and 70 magazine titles.

History

The Periodical Publishers Exchange was formed 27 years ago by a handful of Toronto-area independent publishers who felt the need to meet monthly in an effort to seek advice from peers, monitor trends in the industry and express their thoughts and views.
